Tes Fest was fun, although very different from what I'd expected. My class was much better attended than I imagined it would be, especially considering the heavy concentration of new players who attended the weekend. I've determined that 1.25 hours really isn't enough to teach that class. So, I'm looking for venues that can allot me two hours or more. If you hear of anything, give me a shout! My play dates were amazing and fun and it was cool to co-top along side Michele and Midori. At one point, during Michele's first presentation, I was standing behind Skye, Jordan, Seraphin and Angelene and I realized that I was in the company of five (including Michele) of my favorite people. Five very special women who have added to the joy of my life and I will forever be grateful for them.
Mushy, aren't I?
Vancouver Rope Dojo™ was amazing, too. Midori and I had a blast teaching that class, despite the roasting temperatures inside and out. BIO, the group that sponsored us, did a great job as hosts! And they throw a mean party, from what I hear! (I didn't attend the party because teaching really wipes me out.)
On the not-so-mushy side: reading the news is depressing but necessary. Being informed about the world that wants to kill itself (and apparently me along with it) is one way of trying to stay one step ahead of it. It also reminds me of one reason I'm doing what I'm doing on this site, i.e. trying to show an alternative way of approaching the world. I've been blessed with a life that allows me some travel and some opportunities to meet and share with people of disparate backgrounds and I've found something amazing. It's not all "hate, hate, hate." It can't be. It's not all "I know what's best for you so turn over your freedoms and your rights." It can't be. I am trying responds to the world in a way that's positive and supportive and personally uplifting. And then I try to share a bit of that with you each update.
That's my job and I'm sticking to it.
Namaste,
