First things first: I'll be in Seattle at the end of the month, to present at The Wet Spot with Michele, shoot with Monk and – wait for it – go to the Sci Fi Museum! This is a trip I've been looking forward to for a while now, ever since I learned about the Pacific Northwest rope scene, in fact. I can't wait! Here's the link that will tell you everything you want to know about our presentation: Connection and Intent. It's on the Bondage Lessons site; just click through until you get to The Wet Spot Bondage Workshop page.Ther's a play party afterwards and I'm looking forward to doing rope in one of the bondage capitals of the country!
So, the next Rope Bondage Dojo ™ is in Boston but it's completely sold out! That's exciting! Midori and I adore teaching these weekend intensives and we get a real charge out of each and every class we've had so far. The next Dojo is in July in Vancouver, Canada and you can get more information on the Rope Dojo Web site. If you're coming to Boston, I'll see you there! And if you can make it to Vancouver, do so! It's going to be a blast!
I sometimes have to ask myself how it is that I get away with doing what it is that I do. Not in the legal sense but in the psychological/spiritual/emotional sense. Let's face it: coming up in the scene the way that I did, through the fetish clubs and associations with pro dommes and fetish rags, was exciting and fun (and I made some wonderful friends that way) but it wasn't without its potential pitfalls and dead man's curves. I find the same kinds of potential dangers in the lifestyle scene. It's a rough and tumble jungle out there and I've done pretty well at keeping myself on an even keel. Part of the reason for that, I think, is the fact that I've managed to make some pretty good friends in the jungle and they taught me a lot about the lay of the land. They protected me and helped my find my footing and my voice. My deep appreciation for that kind of guidance, I think, is what made me agree to presenting on scene etiquette for the TES Novice Group, when Bo and Lady D asked me. This was a chance to give back to new people, to help them see the lay of the land and build solid foundations that will serve them well in establishing their own identities in the scene. I had a great time and I think the group appreciated what I had to give. I might have to keep this presentation in the repertoire. If you have skills and have been in the scene for a few years, I highly suggest getting involved, even on an infrequent basis, with the educational opportunities in your local BDSM community. I find it rewarding, and i think you will, too.
Does anyone have a spare portable suspension frame they want to part with? It's nearly impossible to rig suspension in most NYC apartments, and just as difficult to find places to shoot that have suspension capabilities. I'd love to have something classy and portable to take with me on shoots or to just play around on at home. Any ideas? I want to shoot more suspension work with Miss M and having a suspension rig would help an awful lot. Granted, there's not a lot I can expect because my apartment is small and shooting in it would be a challenge but a guy can hope, can't he?
Well, that's all I feel like saying tonight.
Namaste,
